Booking System for Dog Grooming: What Salons and Mobile Groomers Need
Dog grooming bookings are trickier than most. A bath and tidy for a small terrier and a full groom for a matted doodle are completely different jobs. Owners often have more than one dog. And if you’re a mobile groomer, where the dog lives matters as much as when.
Here is what a booking system for dog grooming should do, whether you work from a salon or a van.
1. Services that match the dog
Set up services by size and type, such as small, medium and large full grooms, bath and brush, nail trims, each with its own length and price. The calendar should only offer times where that groom actually fits.
2. Several dogs in one booking
Households with two or three dogs are your best customers. They shouldn’t have to fill in the form three times. A good system lets the owner enter their details once, then add each dog with its own service and details, booked back to back. If one slot has gone, the owner should be told before anything is booked, not end up with two dogs booked and one missing.
3. The pet details you need, before you start
Name, breed, weight, coat condition, temperament, health issues and vet details. Ask for them on the booking form so they’re waiting for you. Letting owners attach a photo or a PDF, such as a vaccination record, saves chasing them on the day.
4. Deposits for no-shows
A missed groom loses you the slot and, for mobile groomers, the drive. A deposit at booking cuts no-shows sharply, and regulars can pay in full if they prefer.
5. For mobile groomers: book by area
Mobile groomers need owners to enter their ZIP code or postcode first, so only people in your area can book, and only on the days your van is nearby. That keeps your routes tight and your days profitable.
6. Bring dogs back on schedule
Most dogs need grooming every four to eight weeks. Rebooking at the end of each groom, plus an automatic follow-up email a few weeks later, keeps your diary full. A client history with notes, such as “nervous with the dryer”, makes every visit better.
